About this work

How We Approach a Home Charger

Most electric cars charge comfortably overnight on a 40 or 50 amp circuit. The question is whether your house has that much to spare once everything else is counted.

We total up what the house already draws, add the charger and anything you are planning, and show you the answer. Sometimes the existing panel is fine; sometimes a load-managing charger avoids a bigger job; sometimes the panel does need attention first.

We also pick a charger position with you, so the cable reaches the car without trailing across the garage.

Choices we talk through

Decisions on a Charger Job

  • Hardwired or plug-in

A wired-in unit or a 240-volt receptacle, depending on the charger you have.

  • Where it mounts

Inside the garage, on an outside wall or on a post by the driveway.

  • How the cable gets there

Through the walls, across the attic or along neat surface conduit.

  • Panel or no panel

Whether the circuit fits as is, or the panel needs work first.

How it goes

What Happens on the Day

  1. 1

    Set up

Power is switched off only on the circuits we work near.

  2. 2

    Wire and mount

The circuit is run and the charger or receptacle is fitted.

  3. 3

    Test with you

We watch it charge, name the breaker in the panel and walk you through the settings.
